Czech Republic defender David Rozehnal has signed a three year contract with Bundesliga outfit Hamburg from Serie A side Lazio.
The former PSG and Newcastle United player has contract extension clause included, meaning the possibility of a fourth year based on appearances, his agent Pavel Zika said Wednesday.
While, financial details were not divulged but the Italian club have reportedly received €8m for the central defender.
The 29-year-old had completed a permanent move to Lazio from Newcastle in June last year after spending the second half of the season on loan in Rome.
Rozehnal, who has also played for Clube Brugge in Belgium, has been capped 56 times for the Czech Republic.

Rozehnal poised to make Hamburg switch

Hamburg have completed the signing of Czech Republic defender David Rozehnal from Lazio on a three-year contract.

The 29-year-old successfully passed a medical on Wednesday morning before agreeing on the terms of his contract with the Bundesliga outfit.
The clubs agreed on an undisclosed fee, believed to be around €5m, late on Tuesday for the centre-back.
Hamburg coach Bruno Labbadia said he was "delighted'' to have completed the transfer just days before the start of the season.
"David fits the bill excellently,'' he said. "He can use both feet, is very quick and has international experience.''
Rozehnal is now looking forward to beginning a new chapter in his career after representing Paris St Germain and Newcastle in the past.
"I am delighted that it has worked out,'' he said. "I am looking forward to playing for HSV, their fantastic fans and, of course, also the Bundesliga. I have spoken very much with David Jarolim over the last few days and he has given me a glowing report of the whole club and the environment.''
Rozehnal's arrival may have come just too late for him to make his bow in Thursday night's Europa League qualifier against Danish side Randers, although he should be ready to make his debut in the first round of the DFB-Pokal at Fortuna Dusseldorf next Monday.

Rozehnal makes Hamburg switch
Hamburger SV have been somewhat shy in the transer window so far, but it seems they are now starting to flex their financial muscle

It may not be the most surprising news as HSV officials have been in negotiations with Lazio over the last couple of days, but it is nevertheless a huge boost for Hamburg's defence: David Rozehnal has completed his transfer to northern Germany and will sign a contract until summer 2012.

"Fits perfectly"

The Czech international was a regular for the Serie A outfit last season and has played at prestigious events such as World Cup 2006 and Euro 2008.

HSV coach Bruno Labbadia is delighted to have secured a new defender: "We are really happy to have completed this transfer. David fits perfectly into our team. He is very fast and has a lot of international experience."

Jarolim speeds things up

It turns out that Rozehnal asked one of his Czech team mates to make sure that signing for HSV was the right thing to do: "I spoke to David Jarolim a lot in the last couple of days and he said very positive things about the club and its surroundings. I am very happy everything worked out."

However, Rozehnal will not be part of the squad when Hamburger SV start their UEFA Europa League campaign on Thursday against Danish outfit Randers.
